Gwilym Bowen Rhys is a folk musician from Eryri (Snowdonia) who has earned a reputation as an exciting interpreter and performer of Welsh folk songs and melodies.
Welsh being his first language, his knowledge and understanding of his nation’s music and literature feed into his music, including his original compositions. He has won numerous awards, including ‘best solo artist’ at the inaugural Welsh folk awards in 2019, and was shortlisted for ‘folk singer of the year’ at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards the same year. He has three albums to his name, his fourth being due for release in 2021.
