Stéphanie Bénéteau

Artist - Stéphanie Bénéteau

Stéphanie found her true vocation as a storyteller in 1994 and, since then, has performed professionally in hundreds of schools, concert halls, festivals and libraries in Canada and abroad. Over the years, Stéphanie has built a vast repertoire of stories for young people and developed a unique storytelling workshop which she presents in schools in underprivileged neighborhoods.  Stéphanie brings old stories from the oral tradition back to life in a lyrical and poetic voice touched with humour. Her repertoire ranges from Greek mythology to medieval legends to erotic tales. She is particularly interested in stories about girls and women, which she tells in a lively, expressive and compelling style all her own.

We are thrilled to announce that at the BtB festival 2023 we will have a brand new piece for families in collaboration with Festival interculturel du conte de Montréal thanks to funding from the Welsh and Quebec governments. Sharing folktales and legends of Quebec and Wales, Welsh storyteller Michael Harvey and Quebec storyteller Stephanie Beneteau will be creating “The Languages of Storytelling” in a seamless weaving together of Welsh, French and English accessible to family (8+) and adult audiences.
