We know many of our audiences and artists would love to be with us at Beyond the Border at our new festival home of Dinefwr in Llandeilo, but because we have such limited capacity, because things are so uncertain and travel restrictions, we know many of us can’t be together in person this year.
We have fallen in love with our new festival home and we want to do everything we can to take you there and let you experience the very best in storytelling from Wales, the UK and the world.
So by the magic of Wi-Fi we want to take you on a wondrous journey from wherever you are in the world through Wales and along that majestic driveway at Dinefwr, into our festival field and through our Virtual Tent doors.
We will take you on a storytelling adventure through technology. Experience the intimacy of being close to a storyteller, immersing yourself in a story, in a unique and special way you wouldn’t have thought possible 12 months ago.
During lockdown we have been working hard exploring how to deliver digitally the very best of storytelling.
How do we take you on a story walk to see a story through the eyes of a bird? How do we put a storyteller in your pocket so you can take them on a walk? How do we let you explore a landscape with stories installed within it? How do we tell you the stories of a tree or let a tree tell it’s own story? How do we share with you through a screen the breath-taking landscape of Wales and especially Dinefwr?

Storyteller Explorer Ticket – this virtual wristband gives you access to a curated digital experience which gives you the highlights of the Virtual programme. You will have some exclusive features to the Explorer events; first chance to book into our interactive storytelling experiences on zoom; first chance to nominate someone from an incredible opportunity to have a story told down the phone to them from across the globe and to be taken on a personalised story walk. £53*

Each event will be £10.30* each.

Please note: You only need one ticket per household.
You’ll only need one ticket if you are watching on your phone, computer or ipad on your own or within your household. Although if you and someone else in your house are using more than one device to watch the content you will need to order two different tickets as you will be sent two different codes to access the content. 1 ticket equals to 1 screen.

The virtual experience includes:
Once you’ve bought your ticket you’ll receive an order confirmation on email – it will be your digital wristband to gain access to the Online Festival events.
If you’ve brought a Storyteller Explorer ticket, you’ll be sent a link with a code which will give you access to the Storyteller Explorer Room, which will be open from the festival start date on the 26th of June.
Tickets for the individual events will include a link to watch the event online. The link is unique to you only as well as a code. So please don’t share as you may not be able to watch or listen to the event.
Make sure you check the times and dates as some events are only available on certain dates.
We will be announcing our full Online and Live Festival programme from 7 June.
I can’t seem to see the link – where would it be?
Once you booked your ticket you would have received an email from our box office – Taliesin – with details of how to log in. In this email you would have received a link to follow to access the content. This link won’t be active until 15 minutes before the event starts.
I’m having problems viewing on my phone / laptop / screen

How long are the videos up for? Can i watch anytime?
The videos can be watched from the event date then they’ll be available on demand until the 15th of July 2021. After this date you won’t be able to access the content.

Why do I need to pre-register?
We have a limited capacity for the Zoom events as you’ll be in a Zoom Room with the artist and we like to keep them cosy. We have a limited number of 100 participants. If you don’t manage to get a space the content will be available to watch on demand after the event.
How do I log on to Zoom?
Once you have registered for the event you’ll receive an email with a link to access the event. Click the link and follow the instructions.
I haven’t received a confirmation email?

What devices can I use to watch?
You can watch on any device connected to the internet – a Computer, Laptop, tablet, phone.
Will my camera and audio be on?
Your camera will be turned on but you can turn it off (there’s an option at the bottom of the screen to turn your camera off). Your audio will be off but you can ask questions in the chat.
How do I switch my camera off/on?
At the bottom of the video screen you’ll see an option – Start Video / Stop Video : This turns your camera on or off.
The sound quality is poor
The sound quality is usually better if you listen on headphones – please try this.

How do I watch the content?
Once you have purchased your ticket you’ll have access to The Storyteller Explorer Room which has all the content for you to view. You’ll need to input your unique code and this will give you access to the Online Festival Room. The content is a mixture of events on Zoom, and events and audio which you can watch through the Online Festival Room.
Can I watch the content any time?
The Zoom events happen at the time advertised, but you can watch a recording after the event. All of the events can be watched on demand after the event date until the 15th of July 2021, except for VAR: Story of Hervor which is live only.
What device do I need to watch?
You can watch on any device connected to the internet – a Computer, Laptop, tablet, phone.

Can I share my link?
No. This is for your home use only. When you open the link, it attaches your IP address to that unique link. If multiple IP addresses are used on the same link, it will block the Stream for everyone.
How do I watch the content?
Once you have purchased your ticket you’ll receive a link by email to access the content. If the content is streamed, this link will take you to a Digital Foyer, which will open 30 minutes before the event starts. You will need your unique code from your confirmation email to access the Room where the content is streamed so keep that handy.
If the event is on Zoom – you will receive a link to Zoom in your confirmation email and you can access the waiting room to the Zoom event 15 minutes before the event start time.
